"Bass Busters" Program in Effect in Milwaukee

Under a program introduced in July 2007 by Alderman Bob Donovan, chair of the Common Council's Public Safety Committee, Milwaukee police have begun issuing tickets to motorists who blast their stereos at nuisance levels. If your tunes are audible at a distance of 50 feet, you're eligible for a ticket. If you've been "bass-busted," it's going to cost you $237.

Kaukauna Police Crackdown on Noisy Exhaust Pipes

Kaukauna Police is cracking down on noise violators - loud motorcycles, hot-rods and trucks that produce excessive exhaust noise. At a 2005 meeting, ABATE (A Brotherhood Against Totalitarian Enactments), a motorcycle rights organization had argued that the excessive ticketing has become a problem for their members. ABATE board member Dan VanLinn of Brillion said that while motorcyclists like the loud noises their bikes produce, many other people do not, and the only real way to solve the problem is for them to ride responsibly and respectfully.
