SEMA Hot-Rod Legislation Defeated

Delegate William H. Fralin, Jr. introduced a version of SEMA's model legislation in the Virginia House of Delegates. The legislation was designed to change the noise measurement standard for exhaust systems. If passed, it would give license to hot-rodders to legally install and use loud exhaust systems that ruin communities. The Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) is responsible for most of the vehicle noise pollution in America.

Members of the coalition sent e-mails to legislators in the House Transportation Committee. Other members came directly to the Virginia House of Delegates and lobbied to deafeat the bill.
