Pennsylvania Reintroduces Bill to Ban Hot-Rod Muffler Pipes
The Pennsylvania House of Representatives has reintroduced legislation (H.B. 471) that would prohibit the use hot-rod muffler pipes on vehicles. The noise emissions from aftermarket exhaust systems cause tremendous noise for affected residents. This legislation will reduce the din from hot-rods. The bill is sponsored by Representative Michael K. Hanna mhanna@pahouse.net.
Affected residents of Pennsylvania are encouraged to contact their legislators in favor of the bill.

Seamus McCaffery
Loud bikers with ear-splitting motorcycles acoustically assault millions of Pennsylvanians. Now one of them is running for the PA Superior Court, with the support and endorsement from ABATE.
Judge Seamus McCaffery does not hide his affinity for the biker lifestyle. This flickr photo is a shot of his favorite yellow Harley Davidson Softail Classic equipped with an illegal Vance & Hines straight pipe exhaust system. The judge’s illegally modified motorcycle could easily produce 100dB(a) sound levels at a distance of 50 feet.
It is a violation of Federal law (Noise Control Act 42 USC 4901 et seq) to remove or render inoperative any device or element of design (muffler) on any noise regulated product, which all street use motorcycles. There are clear warning labels on the motorcycle to this effect. The motorcycle easily fails the state’s minimum vehicle code equipment requirement that every vehicle must be equipped with a "muffler or other effective noise suppressing system".
A judge (and former police officer) who famously presided over a night nuisance court would not need to be told that installing an obnoxiously loud exhaust is illegal and unethical.
Action Alert - Support Legislation to Ban Hot-Rod Muffler Pipes
Legislation (H.B. 1330) would effectively prohibit the use of noisy hot-rod aftermarket exhaust systems has been reintroduced in the Pennsylvania State House of Representatives by Representative Michael K. Hanna. The bill has been referred to the House Transportation Committee.
