You know I agree with some of the things this site addresses.
However their is in my opinion a lot more important things that I would rather invest my time and money trying to help make our world better.
Starvation, Violence, Terrorism, Medical Research, Homeless Shelters. Can you see a bigger impact and importance that these problems address.

1st I want to share a little insight on sound and what actually harms you the most from high volumes.
High pitch frequencies that are often found factories and other areas like that will harm your hearing before a low frequency that can be felt or has (impact) Why? Do some research. Also Fireworks will be going off in celebrationof our country's Independence which allows certain rights such as freedom of speech and various other right. I hope that the sound doesnt bother you too bad. I mean after all the people who are fighting for our safety are in constant gun battle and they are exposed to sounds that are truly at times unbearable.

I dont think disturbing the peace is right but I also know that not everyone has the same intentions that are targeted by the website.
Car audio for instance. It is a science and a lot of engineering and calculations go into building a truly remarkable sounding vehicle. From a economic standpoint look at what this industry does itsit's not just loud stereo Systems. You will eventually need a true mobile electronics shop in the near future because mechanics are not going to be trained to handle the complexity that is soon to come with the advancements in todays technology. It will be outrageous for dealerships to train employees to be able to fix the computers that will be in future cars but the true car stereo shops that are specialist in the 12volt industry will be theones who can fix these issues that will arrise from electronics in cars not mechanical issues that occured in the past.

Just saying it provides a boost to pur our economy, provides jobs, and many other positive factors.
You shut down or try to shut down an entire industry like that and you will have a huge impact on the world. But it wont ve a positive one. The manufacturers that design and produce theses products are huge. Look at some of them. A lot of them are merged together. For instance JVC is now JVC - Kenwood of America.
I know I have been to various fundraisers for non profit organizations in community's that were sponsored by car stereo manufacturers and stores and even competitive organizations such as MECA and DB DRAG etc...

Just think about both sides before you go out to bash an entire issue based on a biased opinion

Hello Bd1984,

There is actually probably hours and days of research ahead of you to get up to speed on all sides and facets of noise pollution.

If you want to discuss the economy, consider worker productivity. Everyone subjected to noise will sleep less and have less quality of sleep. This is shown in multiple scientific studies. Noises when sleeping even if they don't wake you up, increase cortisol and other hormone levels which are then shown to increase heart disease and incidence of obesity. Hormones are tricky creatures that can alter our hunger, appetite and biological chemistry. You may not want to believe this at first, but when you look at the results of experiments done on this you may change your mind.

Health effects increase medical costs. less sleep and more aggravation leads to worse worker productivity as well. It's even been shown that the closer people live to noise such as airports, the less their homes are worth. This results in less taxes collected to the community. You might think that's a good thing, but less tax collection can lead to lack of education for all those workers you are talking about that need to be trained in computer skills.
